First and foremost, a huge thank you to everyone who worked, attended, and prayed to make our Easter morning a wonderful event where God was worshipped and glorified, and the risen Christ was celebrated. It was a group effort, and a beautiful day!
The Session has decided that during the summer we will have one worship service on Sundays, at 9:30 am. I’m excited about this. However, I know that there are some concerns, because I have received questions from a variety of people which mostly boils down to one question – ‘What kind of worship will it be?’
I appreciate that you care, and wanted to offer my answer here, in case those asking were not the only curious ones. Our worship this summer will be the kind of worship that glorifies God, which is the purpose of worship. Each week, both myself, Ginny, and MaryJo will seek to provide a service that points everyone present toward the One who calls us to worship.
I know that, primarily, your questions revolve around music. This summer we will sing music from a variety of worship styles and traditions. We’ve been averaging around 150 attenders between all of our worship services over the past few months. There are 15 summer services. If we sing 3 songs per service, that’s 45 songs we will sing. Possibly, we will not sing your favorite song. Hopefully we will sing some songs you know as well as add some new ones to your repertoire. Also, later this month you will be asked to offer some of your favorite worship songs, so please be thinking about that. We will try to incorporate some of the songs people would dearly love to hear and sing into the services this summer.
I hope that you will see this summer change in worship schedule as a time to come to church and be gathered with others who want to glorify God, and that when you are in town you will do your best to join us. Remember also that you can access the recording of our services from the church website – upwash.org.
Please keep asking questions, please keep being involved, please keep loving God and loving others!
Blessings,
Erin
